Rest Day Random Thoughts

Who says rest days are restful? The three of us are in a laundromat at 8:15 am. I think we arrived at 8:00. We have already had breakfast. Claudia likes to sleep later, so this is particularly enjoyable for her.

Speaking of our SAG wagon driver, yesterday was not an atypical day. Claudia checked out of the hotel, drove over 140 miles, had to find Thom for the pickup, picked a lunch spot, waited, waited and waited, checked into the new hotel and still made a 4:00 pm commitment she had. She is wonderful.

Ever since Bakersfield, we have been on a major train line. It was interesting the first time we saw a train.  Now it is an unusual day if we don't see 20 or more. They are majestic. However when you are trying to sleep at night, it isn't always as pleasant.

Speaking of sleeping, we have been frequenting Best Westerns. In Williams we had our biggest room. In Flagstaff where we are spending 2 nights we have our smallest room. It's a tight fit when you include my bike.

We have had some good meals and some not so good. Yesterday both lunch in Williams and dinner in Flagstaff were good at local places. The worst meal was Thom's birthday dinner at Dennys in Mojave.

Some things that seem funny to us. For the last 2 nights Thom has been confusing the name of where we are staying.  He had Williams as Hamilton and Flagstaff as Falstaff. Kingman has 2 Best Westerns. Your room key only works if you are in the right Best Western. When you put a $20 dollar bill in the coin changer in the laundromat, you have to wait for the 2nd load of quarters.  Someone suggested we should stop and smell the roses. Thom and I haven't seen a rose bush yet.

We do enjoy your comments on the blog, Facebook or via email.  We don't have time to respond all the time.
