Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

Our landscape turned green today. Some where on our ride today, I noticed that everything was green. Until now all the lands were either desert or arid farm lands. There were also trees. Again not the brush or pines but trees. I should know the type but I don't.

Another feature of today and yesterday was crop dusting planes. Today while Thom was a couple of hundred yards ahead of me, a plane landed on a runway (if you call a mowed strip of grass a runway) between Thom and me. It was fun to see.

In Pratt we left US 54, the Yellow Brick Road. We stopped at a donut shop and the owner was either so impressed that we were riding to Rhode Island or that Thom took her picture that she gave us two donuts extra.

While we are spending the night in Hutchinson, KS we did ride to Burrton about 10 miles east of here.

Here is the ride on Strava:

This was our 2nd century in a row. I must admit I had some trouble wrapping my head around today's ride but I made it.

Progress

If the rain holds off our goal is to reach Emporia, KS tomorrow. If we do, I think we will be past the halfway point of the ride. Here is everyone's favorite table:

I guess I'm not in a talkative mood tonight. The three of us (Claudia and Thom do the bulk of the work there, I just talk and get in the way) just concluded the evening discussion of where to stay the next two nights. It is always a little more complicated than it sounds merging the route and available and acceptable hotels.
