The Weather is Getting Old

I must admit I am very frustrated.  We had another stormy night and not a good night's sleep. It was still raining hard in the morning. I decided we should treat ourselves to a breakfast bagel from the Dunkin Donuts across the street from our hotel as opposed to a microwaved burrito.  When we asked if they had bagels, the Dunkin counter person looked like we were from outer space. We ended up eating at IHOP.

At 10:15 we checked out and headed towards Osage City where we ended our ride yesterday.  The rain had stopped but the roads were wet.

We started our ride into a 10 MPH headwind. After a few miles we could see the clouds lifting to the southeast of us. Even though we were going slow all three of us were secretly optimistic we might put on some decent miles.

This was a day when Claudia waited for us every 15 miles because of the threatening forecast. At the first meet up we waved to each other and kept pedaling. As we approached Claudia near mile 30, the rain started.  After we went inside the convenience store and ate our nutritious snack, the skies started to clear. We put on our biking shoes and helmets and were ready to ride. We were hoping to ride the 30+ miles to Missouri.  Then the rain started and that was it for the day.

Claudia then drove the 51 miles to our hotel in Belton, MO. That means tomorrow when it stops raining she will drive us the 51 miles back to our ending point in Ottawa, Kansas.

The highlight, if you can call it a highlight, was seeing three dead armadillos on the side of the road.

Another highlight will be dinner tonight. We are going to Jack Stack's our favorite barbecue restaurant in the Kansas City area.

Here's are picture of one of the hotel room number in our hotel.

Here is the ride on Strava:

PROGRESS

Here's the super duper chart. I know the remaining miles are the same for today and yesterday on this table and slightly larger than it was in yesterday's table. We adjust the route daily and our lack of progress also causes some problems with our planned routes.

Into each life a little light shall shine. Here's another way to look at our progress.:

Finally if you really want to look at what we have done you can follow this:

TOMORROW

We hope to go further than today.
