Is that all there is?

Today we started with Claudia driving us back to Rome Animal Hospital. Our route was to Cohoes, NY 111 Miles. Ugh. It wasn't a very exciting route but it was direct. All we had to do was follow NY bike route 5. During the first 50 miles there were three serious climbs and some pretty views of the Erie Canal. We stopped for lunch at the High Wheeler Cafe in Fort Plain. We both really enjoyed our grilled cheese sandwiches.

After lunch we met up with another Tour de Cure rider Kevin Powers in Fultonville. We started riding the Canal Path with Kevin. It was all paved and flat. It was nice to have someone new to talk with. Unfortunately Kevin had a flat after about 30 miles. He knew how anxious we were to get done so he told us to go on and he would fix the tire himself.

Thom and I finished the last 30 + miles staying mostly on the Canal Path and the Mohawk / Hudson Bike Trail. The Mohawk/Hudson had some curious design features including a ridiculously steep hill right after a sharp turn.

We finished at my niece's house after 112 miles. Sometimes that happens that we ride further than the design distance. Claudia and my sister as well as Sara, Frank and Putter were there. We had a great dinner and cheese and crackers and excitement.

Here's the ride on Strava:

PROGRESS

Who cares how many miles we have done. Who cares the number of feet we have climbed. We only have two days left. Here is the table:

TOMORROW

We hope to finish NY, ride through Massachusetts and end the day in Windsor Locks, CT.

  1. Never thought I would hear Rich Kerbel say “Who cares how many miles we’ve done?”
